The Outset has eliminated a whopping 2,100 harmful ingredients, making it gluten, nut and fragrance free. It’s suitable for any skin type. “It’s not all-natural, because natural ingredients can be irritating for the skin. There’s a mᴀssive difference between natural and clean.” For example, a lot of natural ingredients are heavy in vitamin C, which for most skin types is an irritant. I can’t put that stuff on my skin, it’s not good for me.

” Johansson also suggests that we’ve been hoodwinked into thinking higher-priced products are better for our skin, and will have more miraculous results. “When you have a $250 cream, and you pull it apart, and you see what’s in there, you realise it’s not good for your skin.” The Outset’s three-step routine is cheaper than most and comes in at £88.

Johansson understands that The Outset will likely be met with scepticism, considering every celebrity seems to have boarded the beauty brand train. Kim Kardashian, Hailey Bieber, Jared Leto, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Aniston, Jada Pinkett Smith, Pharrell Williams, David Beckham, Brad Pitt, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Halsey have all launched their own skincare lines over the past couple of years.

It’s a saturated market. But Johansson is adamant that The Outset is a celeb-managed brand that actually works. “We have a great return customer rate and we have seen people’s acne and eczema clearing. The results are amazing. Honestly, try the three-step routine for ten days and you’ll come back to me and say ‘Scarlett, you know what, you were right.’”
