The Jenner sisters have gone straight from the front row in Milan to Paris, where tonight Kylie watched Kendall close the Schiaparelli show. It looks as though Kylie was inspired by the family’s own red-carpet archive this evening, as she wore a skin-тιԍнт crystal-encrusted halter-neck gown that is remarkably similar to the “Happy Birthday, Mr President” Marilyn Monroe dress her sister Kim Kardashian famously wore to the Met Gala in 2022.
The Marilyn-style gown has a scooped neckline leading to a keyhole cut-out at the chest, which those in the know will immediately recognise as a symbol of a Schiaparelli creation. While Kylie’s dress was Old Hollywood bombshell material, she subverted the glamour somewhat with her offbeat choice of footwear. Perhaps she subscribes to the wrong-shoe theory, or accepts that this season, “toes are the new legs”?
Jenner selected a pair of ɴuᴅᴇ anatomical heels moulded to resemble a human foot. Schiaparelli has a thing for feet: for several seasons now the maison’s collections have incorporated pumps with the tips sculpted to look like gilded talons. Jenner’s shoes were a preview of the new spring/summer 2024 collection – they were styled with look 8 on the runway in Paris.
Jenner’s Paris Fashion Week wardrobe has incorporated plenty of subversive footwear – see her slightly clinical looking Sportmax ensemble. Designers like Elena Velez, Ricky Wesley Harriott, Donatella Versace, Daniel Lee and Aaron Esh have all been focusing on the foot for spring/summer 2024 with fetish-inspired shoes. It’s a trend Kylie Jenner is clearly here for.
