The President of Marvel Studios — Kevin Feige has come up with an interesting revelation. And it includes our favourite Marvel superheroes aka Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow. According to a report by Variety, Marvel Studios hinted that although the characters of Iron Man and Black Widow died in Avengers: Endgame, there was a possibility that they could return for a future Avengers film. Since it would be a major shift for MCU, nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Now, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kevin Feige has talked about the matter but without dropping any significant cues.
“We did not discuss that and that is the truth. We’re doing a project with Scarlett. I love Robert, he’s part of the family. But in terms of returning, we’ll have to see,” said Kevin Feige to the host in the interview. Although Kevin confirmed that the makers did not have a discussion, he did indicate that there might be a scope that the speculations of bringing back Iron Man and Black Widow in MCU might be true.
It may be a tricky and expensive issue if the MCU ever considered the prospect of bringing back the original Avengers, reports Comicbook. For their roles, Rober Downey Jr and Scarlett Johansson would each receive a substantial remuneration — more specifically an eight-figure amount. In fact, The Direct reported that Robert Downey Jr was paid a whopping sum of 25 million dollars for the 2013 Shane Black directorial Iron Man 3. It was one of his solo films.
According to Comicbook, chances are that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Chris Evans’ Captain America, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye might reprise their roles in two upcoming Avengers movies — Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, scheduled to release in 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars, which is expected to hit the big screens in 2027.
Speaking about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the latest film by Marvel Studios which is gearing up for a release is The Marvels. Directed by Nia DaCosta, the film will be released in theaters on November 10. Also in the line is director Julius Onah’s Captain America: Brave New World, which is expected to hit the big screens on July 26, 2024.
