Angelina Jolie doesn’t want to get into specifics on the “why” of her somewhat sporadic acting output.
But in an interview with Vogue to promote her Atelier Jolie fashion line, she alluded to being “a bit down these days. I don’t feel like I’ve been myself for a decade, in a way,” she said, adding: “Which I don’t want to get into.”
Jolie said she started doing less film work “seven years ago, only taking jobs that didn’t require long shoots. We had a lot of healing to do. We’re still finding our footing.”

She divorced Brad Pitt in 2016, and their legal battles are ongoing.
Atelier Jolie is part of that healing process. “I think part of this has also been therapeutic for me—to work in a creative space with people you trust and to rediscover yourself,” she said. “I’m hoping to change many aspects of my life. And this is the forward-facing one.”
The 48-year-old Jolie said she believes people perceive her based on the clothes she wears.
Thus, she’s still trying to figure out what her style is, wanting to look “soft” after being “hurt” in the past.
“Sometimes the way you dress says: ‘Don’t mess with me – I’ve got my armour on,’” she said. “But I want a woman to feel safe enough that she can be soft.”
