Paige Spiranac has spoken. The former professional golfer and current scratch golfer recognizes that improving your game isn’t easy. It takes a lot of time—time that many recreational golfers simply don’t have.
If you’re wanting to improve your game but don’t have much time to spend on it, the 30-year-old recommends focusing on one thing: your short game.

In a recent TikTok video, the influencer said the key to playing better is being “absolutely dialed 100 yards and in.” This means extensive work on your chipping, wedge sH๏τs, sand sH๏τs and “especially on your putting,” she remarked.
Although, unlike professionals, you might not have hours to dedicate to your short game, Spiranac says dedicating at least 25 minutes of your practice time to it can make a huge difference in your play.
Plus, once your short game improves, your full swing will improve, too. Improving your short game “takes the pressure off of your full swing. Once you take the pressure off of your full swing, because golf is so mental, you’re going to free yourself up and hit more fairways and more greens.”
So, if you only have a little bit of time to dedicate to your game, consider spending it around the putting green. Work on your chipping and putting, and the rest of your game is bound to improve with it. But don’t take our word for it. Take Spiranac’s.
