I’m rarely surprised by holiday collections; enamored might be a better word for this time of year. I know exactly what I want (and should expect) to see: a red lip, a red nail, a gorgeous, gleaming highlighter.

Dolce & Gabbana The Collector’s Edition, a dual fragrance and makeup release, fits the bill perfectly. There are pans of softly shimmering powder embossed with the goddess Athena’s profile, bottles of their iconic scents bearing the same ancient coin and pots of cream color in gold and bronze. To cap off the launch, a nail polish and lipstick—both in red. Coincidentally, the brand’s beauty ambᴀssador—actress Scarlett Johansson—also chose a winter makeup essential that’s as classic as they come: a creamy, crimson lipstick called Devil. (The shade offered this season goes by the comparatively tamer moniker, Real Red.)

What do you like about the holidays the most?

Scarlett Johansson: “My favorite thing about the holidays is getting to see my family all in one place. I travel so frequently for work, it’s one of the only times we all have to get together.”

Where is your favorite place to spend the holidays?

Scarlett Johansson: “My favorite city to be in for the holidays is New York.”

Do you prefer a white holiday or holiday under the sun?

Scarlett Johansson: “I love a white winter holiday.”

What do you look for when selecting the perfect gift for a friend or loved one?

Scarlett Johansson: “I always look for a present that my friend or loved one covets, but would never ask for themselves. I also love to give gifts that can be keepsakes, like The One Collector’s Edition—the bottles with unique coins are beautiful!”

What is the most precious holiday gift you have received, and why was that particular gift so special?

Scarlett Johansson: “The most special gift I ever received was when my brother got me a gift certificate to our favorite childhood restaurant. It was an opportunity for us to spend time together, reminisce and finally try the daiquiris we were always too young to sample.”

Do you ever collect any items that may be considered special?

Scarlett Johansson: “Collectibles, to me, can be of any value or description. They are my treasures that evoke special memories. That’s why The One Collector’s Edition fragrance is so great; it gives you an ornament keepsake, long after the fragrance may be finished. The bottle, because of its unique look, will always bring character to any women’s dresser.”

Do you like buying holiday presents?

Scarlett Johansson: “I much prefer to give presents than to receive them, especially gifts that are unique editions and can be treasured forever.”

Is there any specific fragrance that you would buy for your partner for the holiday?

Scarlett Johansson: “It’s really difficult to buy a fragrance for someone, as smell is so particular for each person. I think The One for Men takes the guesswork out of it because it’s unique enough for a man with specific tastes, yet appeals to most because it is so wearable, and the new Collector’s Edition bottle makes it a real keepsake.”

Do you like having big holiday parties? How do you prepare for one?

Scarlett Johansson: “I like to go to other people’s holiday parties because when I host them, all I do is clean the whole time! I usually bring a bottle of champagne and mistletoe.”

Which makeup item is your go to for a holiday look?

Scarlett Johansson: “I usually carry a red lipstick with me for a last minute night out. My favorite lipstick for years has been Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in Devil, and it continues being my go-to. It’s a classic look that will never go out of fashion.”
