Anybody who has played enough golf knows what it’s like to become so frustrated that you either toss your club or come close to doing so.
Adam Hadwin felt that anger and helplessness on the final hole of the first round of THE PLAYERS Championship Thursday. When the 36-year-old Canadian hit his second sH๏τ into the water following a faulty tee sH๏τ, he responded by tossing his club in the drink.
Golf social media maven Paige Spiranac made note of the throw on X/Twitter.
“Elite club toss here,” Spiranac wrote alongside video of Hadwin’s heave.
Hadwin’s meltdown on 18 came after he logged a double-bogey on the 17th hole. Through his first 16 holes, he was at even par.
“I have seen the moment in question. If I’m going simply on the aesthetic of the toss….10/10,” Hadwin’s wife Jessica wrote on X/Twitter.
For the day, Hadwin finished with a three-over 75, which currently has him tied for 128th place and 10 sH๏τs back of co-leaders Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
Scheffler and McIlroy are both -7, followed by Nick Taylor at -6 and Tom Hoge, Jason Day, J.T. Poston and Ludvig Åberg at -5.
The second round of The PLAYERS will tee off tomorrow morning the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrᴀss in Florida. You can watch the action all weekend on NBC and Golf Channel.
